It’s a question I get asked a lot so here are 5 tips to not only save some money on your day but to also save on wedding waste!
1. Go loose on your confetti!
Ditch the bags, cones and packets and keep it loose in a basket. It’s quicker for people to grab, less wasteful and saves you some money too.
Also not going to lie the rustling of packets if you’re doing an indoor confetti throw is not a vibe (think packets in a cinema)
2. Opt for a favour station and halve the number of favours.
In general most will take one per couple/household so this helps reduce waste again! It also give you the opportunity to have a styled area for it where you can reuse ceremony florals or bouquets.
3. Reuse your ceremony florals and bouquets
Make the most of your florals and use them in multiple areas. Have a wow factor arch that can be used for the ceremony then around a cake or table plan and then finally as a backdrop. Get those bouquets in water and use for centrepieces or in alcoves/on windowsills.
4. Make use of reusables and hire items
If you’ve booked me you’ll have access to all of my props and signage, if you haven’t then find someone you can hire items from so you can reduce spending. My signs are free in my service as I paint over them so less waste and less money! Win win!
5. Group decor in set ‘zones’
As tempting as it is to ‘fill’ a venue by spreading your decor you are minimising impact (unless you spend £££!). Instead create focal areas that guests will want to have photos in and will gravitate towards. This area above was an audio guestbook but I added in my shelves to accommodate some other guest amenities like flip flops and dancefloor props for later . I also added ceremony florals to make it look beautiful and in keeping with the rest of the day.
I hope this helps give you some ideas and see what they can look like in practise also!
Till next time, Lauradana xx
